I’m playing a 5-string Nick Lloyd Bass with a removable neck, crafted from spruce and walnut. It’s a fantastic instrument with great sound definition—very focused and with lots of sustain. I use Thomastik medium strings, which I’m officially endorsed by, and they are excellent for pizzicato.
To amplify my bass on stage, I use a full-circle Fishman pickup and an Audio-Technica ATM 350 mic; together, they deliver a big, wide, powerful acoustic sound.
On stage, I plug my bass into an RME Fireface 802 audio interface connected to my computer. I use Ableton Live software for looping and the Overloud TH3 plugin for effects.
